Sazen Tange and the Pot Worth a Million Ryo

1 hr. 32 min. | Drama, Comedy | N-13

The bored brother of a local nobleman and his wife are given a worthless looking pot and sell it to antique dealers. What they don't realise at the time is that it contains a map leading to a hidden treasure. The precious pot ends up in the hands of an orphan, Yasu, who is taken in by the one-armed samurai Tange Sazen. Thus begins the search for the treasure. Of the three surviving films by Yamanaka, this one has the most comedic elements, which are revealed through the contrasts created by the characters and their unusual or unexpected behaviour.
